The new normal as it’s said to be and this pandemic has most certainly had an impact on us all in some way or form. From us all at Dynamics we hope that you and your family all well. It has been challenging at the clinic, but some positives have come out of this sudden change to our lives, clients have reported that their activity levels have increased with huge known health benefits to be had, so long may this continue. I have been working throughout the lockdown supporting clients through the clinics virtual app secure system which was very quickly implemented with the help of Emily our clinical receptionist and has proven to be very popular.
I have been working through the guidance from NHS England and our governing bodies including Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, Physiofirst, Healthcare Professions Council and NHS England to reach a point when we can re-open the clinic to face to face appointments with the safety and wellbeing our clients and staff being the upmost importance. I feel that we are now at a point of proudly opening the clinic for face to face appointments. However, not without its challenges so please continue to read on for how the clinic have met these challenges and I am no doubt that these will continue to change over the coming months.
What happens on my first appointment?
Following the latest guidance and prior to booking a face to face appointment
You will be assessed via our virtual app secure system. On this appointment we will diagnose your injury/condition by answering questions and viewing movement through the virtual system. If appropriate exercise can be prescribed through the free app to down load on your device to assist your recovery, progress your ability in strength or return to sport/work. In line with our professional guidance we must also assess your pain levels and the impact on your life, all this information will help decide whether it would be deemed appropriate for you to attend the clinic face to face. Hopefully this will change in the coming weeks.
Face to Face Appointment
You will be given a step by step guide of the procedure if attending the clinic for a face to face appointment and we ask you to adhere to this.
The steps we’ve taken to create a COVID-19 Secure Clinic
Following an extensive clinic risk assessment we have made the following changes implementing procedures to keep staff and clients safe.
All staff have completed the following courses with The World Health Organisation (WHO)
- Hand Hygiene (Ward Based)
- How to put on and take off Protective Personal Equipment (PPE)
- Infection Prevention and Control for Novel Coronavirus COVID-19
All staff have completed training with the World Health Organisation in COVID-19 infection prevention and control measures. In light of this we have put in place enhanced cleaning procedures of all communal and clinical areas especially contact surfaces. The clinic rooms will be cleaned between every patient, and extra time has been scheduled to allow for this to be completed.
All coach covers, pillows and fabric have been removed to reduce carrying the virus.
Automatic hand gel is readily available on entrance to the clinic, treatment rooms and on exit from the clinic and we are encouraging you to use them. As well as washing hands.
Clinic waste disposal
Waste will be dealt with in accordance with government guidelines in respects of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
All staff have completed training on PPE with the World Health Organisation. Following government guidance all staff will be wearing the appropriate PPE to protect the staff and visiting patients.
Whilst in the Clinic
We are confident with the size and lay out of the clinic that we can safely open for face to face appointments as long as we all play our part in adhering to government guidelines the clinics new ways of working.
Appointments will be staggered to facilitate social distancing with a separate entrance and exit to and from the clinic.
We would like to encourage you to be vocal and ask us any questions and concerns that you may have regarding virtual or attending face to face appointment so that you can make an informed decision on how you would like to progress with treatment.
If you have got to this point I would like to thank you for your attention, and we look forward to seeing you all again in the near future at the clinic.
